My dear sweety lil sis !
I am really impressed that you have every quality of being a writer!
and am sure that your future is bright.
You know? If I have ever learned really
meaningful something that has proved to be most important of my life it’s neither
from any school, not from any university and even not from any books.
Of course! We need degrees to get legitimacy. Read books to
get our mind exercised and inform about the things that are already said. I admit
that great books have always inspired me.
But my only and the most respected teacher was my poverty and
the social exclusion associated with it. My great inspiration was the
willingness to face it and overcome it. My best friend was my confidence; if I was
born in a bit richer family, would have lost the chance to experience the world
as it is.
Things l have learned from my life as a porter, as a tea boy,
as a waiter, as a dishwasher, as a cook, as a cheap foreign factory worker in Malaysia.
Things I have learned from the cold winter of Kathmandu just in a thin school
dress shirt-pant and bobby sandal on my foot. Things l have learned from living
for months just with the rousted chana costing rs. 3 per day and water from
momo shop nearby. Things I have learned from living for months without having
chance to bath and changing cloths, And so and so all. Are simply so precious,
so lovely, so valuable that I feel proud of it.
I can guarantee you those things are not teachable by any
person, book on time ‘how to swim’ but you won’t be able to swim until you jump
into the water yourself.
Now I am here, a bit older. But just before me stands huge
opportunity. If I am able to grab it, not only my friends and family but the
entire nation may fell proud of me.
Lets come to the point, the very sense of this whole story
is, ‘enjoy facing the every challenge. That life poses on you and the challenges
will surrender before you. Life will be obliged to respect you one day.’
My dear sis, I believe on you. You are my hope! I really love
you so much and will be there for you as long as I live. See you soon.
Yours Dai
